    Local blues and folk musician Sandy "The Hat" McInnes has recently launched a CD of his work, profits from which he has very generously donated to the Ninewells Cancer Campaign. Sandy (plus Hat!) visited us last week to present a cheque for £1000 from CD sales to date to Lady Fiona Fraser, Chair of the Ninewells Cancer Campaign.

    Allan Thomson, a member of Kirriemuir Rotary Club and native of Buchan, has written more than 100 Doric poems and short stories. Profits from the sale of an anthology of his work, The Moss o’Rora, continue to be donated to the Ninewells Cancer Campaign, with an amazing £5,500 raised to date. Lady Fiona Fraser is pictured receiving the latest fundraising instalment from Allan, together with Rotary President Joanna Johnston.

    Lady Fiona Fraser, Chair of the Ninewells Cancer Campaign, was joined by Dr Gillian Smith and Dr Marios Stavridis in Forfar on Saturday 15th November to celebrate the successful completion of a major fundraising initiative centred around the 2014 Marafun and raffle, a biannual community fundraising event which has been organised since 2002 by the Rotary Club of Forfar.

    We were delighted to be able to congratulate Mrs Elizabeth Ward following her recent 90th birthday celebrations, when she very generously asked that donations to the Ninewells Cancer Campaign were made in lieu of presents.

    Mrs Ward is pictured with her daughter Maureen Riley presenting a cheque for £1050 to Lady Fiona Fraser and Dr Gillian Smith, one of the research group leaders in the Jacqui Wood Cancer Centre.

    In September 2014 Amy and 10 of her closest friends (Gillian Docherty, Janine Mckenzie, Janey Neville, Lynne Goodall, Corrie Auchterlonie, Katie Wilson, Chloe Johnstone, Steph Sommerville, Laurie Greenhill and Wendy Stewart) rallied together to raise as much money as possible for Ninewells Cancer Campaign by climbing Ben Nevis.  The girls wanted the money to go to NCC as Dundee is where all of their loved ones are treated and cared for if they are diagnosed with cancer.  It a cause particula

    Walking pals 'Wild Angus' have celebrated the climax of a year's fundraising by handing over a cheque for £14,125 plus £2,965 worth of Gift Aid to Ninewells Cancer Campaign.

    This far surpassed their target of £10,000 and places 'Wild Angus' top of the fundraising league for the University of Dundee's registered cancer research charity.

    Jacqui Wood Cancer Centre research scientists and PhD students took to the streets of Forfar to run in May's 2014 Marafun, organised by the Rotary Club of Forfar.

    The biannual Marafun has raised more than £140,000 to support vital cancer research in Dundee - one of the UK's leading centres which works across the the complete scientific spectrum, from laboratory based research to drug development, patient care and cancer prevention.
